Local counties release list of closed offices for Thanksgiving 2016

GRAND STRAND, PEE DEE, SC (WMBF) - Several local government offices and facilities in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, according to local counties' websites. 

The following offices will be closed:

  • Horry County - All government offices except public safety operations will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The Solid Waste Authority will also be closed on Thursday and Friday. All branches of the Horry County Memorial Library will also be closed for Thanksgiving, and on Saturday, November 26. The Horry County Museum and the L.W. Paul Living History Farm will be closed for Thanksgiving, and on Saturday, November 26. Myrtle Beach's city offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday and the Solid Waste Division will not provide service on those days as well. The SkyWheel will be closed on Thursday, and will reopen on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
  • Georgetown County - Offices and facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday
  • Florence County - All government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Offices in the city of Florence will be closed on both days as well
  • Darlington County - Offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. City offices will also be closed on both days, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 28. The city of Darlington garbage pickup scheduled for that Thursday will be completed on Friday or Saturday. There will be no yard debris collection Thursday or Friday
  • Dillon County - Offices will be closed on both Thursday and Friday
  • Marlboro County - Offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday
  • Marion County - Offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday
  • Robeson County - Government offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday

    South Carolina Highway Patrol has reported a fatal accident near Pawleys Island, according to their website. Midway Fire Rescue tweeted a photo of the accident, saying it occurred on Ocean Highway near the Island Bar and Grill.

    Two people shot at Darlington home Sunday night

    Two people were shot Sunday night in Darlington, according to Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Robert  Kilgo. Deputies were called to a home on Larry’s Drive in Darlington around 6:00 Sunday night. Upon arrival, they found two people with gunshot wounds.
