Meteorologist Marla Branson awarded NWA's Broadcast Seal of Approval

WMBF News proud to announce that Meteorologist Marla Branson has been awarded the Broadcast Seal of Approval by the National Weather Association (NWA).

To be awarded the Broadcast Seal, applicants must complete all steps in a rigorous process, which includes acceptance into the application process by the NWA Executive Director, passing a 100-question exam covering all aspects of meteorology with a score of at least 80 percent, and passing a review of on-air work by a board of respected meteorologist around the country.

“I became a meteorologist the minute I earned my degree, but this seal of approval is icing on the cake.” Says Marla. “It means a lot that other meteorologist view my weather forecasts something that benefits viewers. The process was long and stressful, but I’m proud of myself for pushing to the next level.”

 WMBF News is the only station in the market with a full team of seal-holding meteorologists.

    South Carolina Highway Patrol has reported a fatal accident near Pawleys Island, according to their website. Midway Fire Rescue tweeted a photo of the accident, saying it occurred on Ocean Highway near the Island Bar and Grill.

    Two people were shot Sunday night in Darlington, according to Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Robert  Kilgo. Deputies were called to a home on Larry’s Drive in Darlington around 6:00 Sunday night. Upon arrival, they found two people with gunshot wounds.
