HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Island Bar and Grill held a benefit for the Rosewood community Wednesday night.

Jaesen Moore, who performed at the benefit with The Izm, has been collecting donated supplies and organizing them under tents along Rosewood Drive for the past month for people to be able to get what they need.

“You can see it in their faces, the gratitude,” Moore said. “We’ve heard everybody’s horror story.”

He lives in Socastee and has a friend in Rosewood, who he was helping during the flooding when he posted a video to Facebook of the flood conditions.

That video got more than 50,000 views and also influenced Moore to head up efforts to help the community

“People have been giving every day,” he said. “It’s been a big help.”

The stockpile of donations has water, a wide variety of food, toiletries, cleaning supplies and clothes.

He said toiletries seem to be the most in demand, especially deodorant, so those donations are still needed.

“Whether they needed things or not, some people just come to chat, hugs,” he said. “A central hub of communication.”

Moore has also served hot meals to people in Rosewood from the side of the street. He said he hopes to do that again.

“I can’t sit across the street one minute away in my house and know that they’re going through this," he said.

Island Bar and Grill accepted donations of supplies Wednesday night. Funds raised will be going right to benefiting Rosewood flood victims.
