CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Less than five people remain without power in the Church Street area of Conway following an outage that initially impacted more than 6,700, according to information from Santee Cooper's website.
Susan Mungo, with Santee Cooper, said the outage lasted about 25 minutes and impacted customers powered by the North Conway and Homewood substations.
The problem originated in the North Conway substation and the exact cause is still being investigated, according to Mungo.
The outage was first reported at 3:45 p.m., impacting approximately 6,702 customers. Santee Cooper's website listed the estimated restoration time as 7 p.m., Tuesday.
According to officials with Horry County Voter Registration and Elections, the outage impacted some area voting precincts. Director Sandy Martin said those polling places had battery backups and voters were able to keep casting ballots.
