FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A motorcycle crash on Alligator Road in Florence leaves one woman dead, according to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken.

The passenger of a motorcycle, involved in an accident on Sunday evening, is identified as 26-year-old Heather Michelle Locklair of Florence, according to Coroner Lutcken.

The crash happened Sunday night at 8:10 p.m. Highway Patrol troopers said two people were on the motorcycle and at some point they tried to make a turn when traveling west, then crashed into a car which was heading east. The impact threw both people off the bike.

The driver of the car was not injured, and Locklair was taken to the hospital. She died a short time later, Coroner Lutcken said.

Highway Patrol said both motorcycle riders were not wearing a helmet.

The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
