MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A woman's credit card was fraudulently charged nearly $2,000 after someone called the Myrtle Beach hotel room she was staying in pretending to be from the front desk, and saying he needed her card information.
Police responded to the Westgate Oceanfront Resort Wednesday and spoke to the victim, who said that an individual contacted her hotel room acting as the front desk worker. She said the individual said her card was not on file, and he needed her card information. The victim said he sounded very convincing, and she provided her card number to him.
The next day, she was advised by her bank that there were three separate charges in Florida amounting to a total of $1,853.99.
