LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday for murder and assault with a deadly weapon for the fatal shooting at an 18-year-old man on October 15 in Lumberton, and the attempted shooting of another person, according to an official with the Lumberton Police Department.
Ryan Dale Hunt was taken into custody without incident at about 4:30 p.m. after a tip led officers and the U.S. Marshals Service to a home on St. James Circle.
Hunt was charged with first-degree murder for the death of 18-year-old Cameron Brewington. Officers found Brewington on October 15 on Cooper Street at about 5 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the upper body, a press release stated. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Hunt was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill for the attempted shooting of another person.
Hunt was taken before the magistrate where he received no bond on the murder charge and a $25,000 bond on the assault charge, a release states. He is currently being held in the Robeson County Detention Center.
