HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County police arrested a Greensboro, N.C., man on Wednesday for alleged criminal sexual conduct with a child under 11 years of age.
According to online records from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, Thomas Edward Gales, 30, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11 and two counts of criminal domestic violence, first offense.
He remained in jail Thursday under no bond.
An incident report from the Horry County Police Department states the alleged sexual abuse was first reported in September 2014.
The case was reassigned to a Horry County officer in July of this year. An investigation alleged the suspect had inappropriate sexual conduct with the victim, who was 9 years old at the time.
A warrant was obtained and the North Carolina suspect said he would turn himself in on Aug. 23, according to the police report. He did not show and police entered Gales into the system as a wanted a fugitive.
