HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - RJ Corman is once again repairing damage to its Carolina Southern Railroad tracks that run through Horry and Marion counties in South Carolina.
The rail line was damaged by Hurricane Matthew and the severe flooding the storm brought to the area.
SCDOT reports 20 washouts, 12 miles of track flooded and one locomotive stuck in the hard hit town of Nichols.
Officials say the rebuilding process could take up to four weeks to complete. However, they are optimistic that the rail line will come out of this stronger and better than before.
"We have a great vision for this rail line, but it's not going to happen overnight. Things like this are going to happen," RJ Corman's Bill Henderson said. "We are going to rebuild, rebuild stronger."
