Darlington County School District announces changes to calendar

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – As a result of Hurricane Matthew, Darlington County School District had to revise its calendar, according to DCSD’s press release.

Students in the Darlington County School District missed seven student days. As required by law, the district will make up three of the missed days by using the inclement weather days noted on the district calendar, the press release states.

Thursday, October 20, February 20, March 17, and May 12 are now regular school days.

Several deadlines and dates have changed as a result of the recent inclement weather. The end of the first quarter has been changed to October 28 and report cards will be sent home on November 4, 2016.

Below is the new schedule and it will also be located on DCSD’s website:

5-14…..No school: Hurricane Matthew

13…..No school: Professional Development

20…..REGULAR SCHOOL DAY (not early dismissal)

28…..End of 1st quarter

November 2016

4…..Report cards sent home

7…..No school: Professional development

8…..No school: Election Day          

23-25…..No school: Thanksgiving

December 2016

19-30…..No school: Christmas/Winter Break

January 2017

2…..All return from Christmas Break

16…..No school: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

February 2017

9…..Full day of school; Parent conferences 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM; Interim report (21st day of quarter)

10…..No school: Parent conferences (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM), half day for teachers

20…..REGULAR SCHOOL DAY (Hurricane make-up)

March 2017

1…..Early dismissal after lunch: District Collaboration

17…..REGULAR SCHOOL DAY (Hurricane make-up)
