COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) – The South Carolina High School League has added another week to the regular season, due to the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in the state. Teams that won’t play this Friday will move their games to November 11th – the new final date of the regular season.

The playoffs will begin on November 18th, with state championships also being pushed back a week once again. The Class 1A and 2A title games will be December 16th at Benedict College. The 3A, 4A and 5A championship games will be December 17th at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Teams that haven’t missed any games due to weather the past two weeks are able to schedule remaining games for weeks 11 or 12 should both teams agree. This move prevents a longer layoff between the end of the regular season and the playoffs.

All Grand Strand teams and most all Pee Dee teams will be playing on November 11th, and not this Friday. The following games will be played as scheduled:

Lakewood at Darlington
Hartsville at Lugoff-Elgin
Lamar at Timmonsville

If Google search trends are any indication, many South Carolina eclipse watchers may not have heeded expert advice, and are now suffering eye pain and damage, or they were at least searching the internet about it Monday.
