Teen charged in fatal accidental Aynor shooting

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 17-year-old shot and killed a 16-year-old in Aynor Sunday night and has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, according to the Horry County Police Department.

Cole Austin Dunn, 17, was arrested and charged for the shooting, which occurred in the 2600 block of Garner Road in Aynor at about 12 a.m. Sunday, the police report states.

Police responded to the scene and found the victim lying beside a truck with a gunshot wound, according to the report. A witness reported hearing a gunshot when she was near the house.

Dunn was taken to the Horry County Detention Center, and he was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the victim’s death. He was released from the detention center on Tuesday on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.

HCPD Lt. Raul Denis said police are investigating the shooting as accidental. He added there was no malice involved, and it was criminal negligence resulting in death.
