Officials: Initial Horry County damage assessments at $16.5M

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Initial assessments following Hurricane Matthew estimate the unincorporated areas of Horry County sustained $16.5 million in damages, according to officials.

That estimate came in at 4:30 p.m., Monday. The assessments determined 553 structures – mainly residential properties – sustained minor damage.

The assessments will continue, according to Horry County officials.
