Horry County recycling centers closed Sunday

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – All Solid Waste Authority recycling centers in Horry County are closed Sunday, according to a tweet from the Horry County Emergency Management Department.

HURRICANE MATTHEW - REVISED OPERATING HOURS

Due to Hurricane Matthew, listed below are the revised operating hours for all Horry County Recycling Convenience Centers and Solid Waste Authority (SWA) facilities:

Recycling Centers:

  • Thursday, October 6th – Normal Operating Hours
  • Friday, October 7th – All recycling centers scheduled to be open will open at 7:00AM and close at 2:00PM. (Dogbluff, Dormans, Bucksport and Browntown will not open on Friday.)
  • Saturday, October 8th – All recycling centers will be closed.
  • Sunday, October 9th – All recycling centers scheduled to be open will open at 1:00PM, if possible.
  • Monday, October 10th – Normal Operating Hours, if possible.

SWA Landfill:

  • Thursday, October 6th – Normal Operating Hours
  • Friday, October 7th – Normal Operating Hours
  • Saturday, October 8th – Closed
  • Monday, October 10th – Normal Operating Hours, if possible.

SWA Material Recovery Facility

  • Thursday, October 6th – Normal Operating Hours
  • Friday, October 7th – Normal Operating Hours  
  • Saturday, October 8th – Closed
  • Monday, October 10th – Normal Operating Hours, if possible.

The groups held a violence summit at Ground Zero Myrtle Beach on Saturday. The event gave the community a chance to talk about violence in Horry County It also helped inspire and empower victims of domestic violence and bullying.

    The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two suspects after a home invasion in Mullins. According to a news release, two males forcibly entered a home on Ed Smith Road around 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. Once inside the home, the men demanded money from the victims. One of the suspects was armed.
