FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Seven Florence citizens were rescued from flooded areas within the city, according to emergency officials.

So far, the storm has dumped 6 inches of rain on the City of Florence, and an additional 5 to 8 inches is expected, according to a briefing from city officials.

“There are already many flooded portions of streets within the City of Florence and this issue is expected to worsen until storm water recedes,” the officials states.

The roadways are not safe for travel, and residents are asked to stay home.

Wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour are expected, which will increase the likelihood of downed trees and power lines.

Again, residents are advised not to travel in the City of Florence at this time.
