PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WMBF) – Residents who are staying in Pawleys Island in spite of the Governor’s evacuation order are being asked to signed a waiver.

WMBF News has obtained a copy of the waiver form, which states: “I have been informed that Town of Pawleys Island is under an evacuation given by the Governor of the state of South Carolina. I have refused to comply with the evacuation and leave the Island. My next of kin can be reached as follows:”

The resident is then provided a space to list their next of kin, their home telephone number, a cell phone number, their name, their address, and their signature. There is then a space for an officer’s name as a witness.

All of Pawleys Island is in Zone A, which was ordered to evacuate at noon Thursday by Governor Nikki Haley.

WMBF News reporters are in Pawleys Island to learn more about this waiver.
