MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A man was expecting to meet with a girl that he knew, but when he arrived at the Wave Rider Resort, two suspects fought him, took $45, his phone, Nike shoes, and I.D.

Both suspects were later taken into custody on Monday.

According to online records from the Myrtle Beach Police Department, Dustin Allen Griffith, 33, was charged with strong-arm robbery, first-degree assault and battery, being a fugitive from justice and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Additionally, Daniel Buck Seward, 40, was charged with strong-arm robbery and first-degree assault and battery.

According to an incident report from Myrtle Beach Police Department, an officer responded to the scene in reference to a strong arm robbery call early Monday morning.

The victim said that the suspects were acting like the girl, and started texting him Sunday night at 10:00 p.m. from a random number that he didn’t save.

The victim went to meet up with the supposed female, and that’s when the suspects were standing in the room waiting for him. They grabbed him inside the room and started punching him, the report states.

The victim said that he fought back and grabbed one of the suspects in the genital area. He tried to escape, but he was then placed in a chokehold.

The man was able to get out of the chokehold and ran out the room towards the Landmark Hotel, where he contacted his mother.

The responding officer noticed bruises on the victim’s face and called EMS.

According to the report, the victim was able to identify both suspects.

Another officer had one of the suspects at a different location from the scene and the other suspect was found in the room at Wave Rider.

The suspect was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Myrtle Beach jail.

The victim’s items were in the room and he later admitted that he was there to buy marijuana. He was cited for loitering, the report states.
