SOCIETY HILL, SC (WMBF) – The Police Chief of Society Hill has resigned, saying he’s leaving to work as a patrol officer with Horry County Police because it will provide better for himself and his children.

Matthew Hill give his two-week notice on Thursday, and will work for two more weeks as the Police Chief of Society Hill, he said.

Lt. Dewayne Gillespie will serve as the interim police chief until a permanent replacement is found, Hill said.
