LATTA, SC (WMBF) – A facility in Latta will be closing its doors by the end of the year, leaving 100 employees out of work.
The anticipated closing date for the WestRock facility in Dillon County is the end of December, according to Chris Augustine, director of corporate communications.
Augustine said the decision to close the plant, which first opened in 1974, came after a thorough analysis and review.
He added high fixed operating costs made it difficult to produce products cost competitively at the Latta facility.
According to the company website, WestRock, based out of Georgia, produces paper and packaging products and has more than 250 facilities around the world.
