Crews battle apartment fire in Carolina Forest area

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Fire crews are on the scene of a working apartment complex fire in the Carolina Forest area.

Capt. Le Hendrick with the Conway Fire Department said the fire was contained to one building at the Reserve at Ridgewood complex off Signature Drive.

One fireman was treated at the scene, according to Hendrick.

The call came in at 5:42 p.m., Tuesday and was contained a few minutes before 7 p.m., Hendrick said.

By 7:45 p.m., the fire was out, according to Horry County Fire Battalion Chief Brian Van Aernem.

Twelve units were affected by the blaze that started on the second floor, he added. 

A press release from the American Red Cross stated the agency was helping 17 people who were impacted. 

There is no indication at this time as to what caused the fire.
