HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The recent spike in gas prices in the Carolinas are among the highest weekly increases in the nation.
According to AAA Carolinas, average gas prices increased 7 cents per gallon in South Carolina and 5 cents a gallon in North Carolina, the Associated Press reported. The jump was a result of the Colonial Pipeline spill.
As of Tuesday, the average price of a gallon of gas in South Carolina was $2.11, according to information on AAA's website. In North Carolina, the price is $2.21.
The national average Tuesday was $2.21, according to AAA.
