MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A completely nude man running near a Myrtle Beach elementary school was arrested Monday after students and teachers at the school witnessed him, according to a Myrtle Beach Police report.
At about 11:30 a.m. Monday, police responded to the Palmetto Academy on Fred Nash Boulevard, a public charter school, in reference to a man running nude in the area.
The offender, identified as 27-year-old Kelvin Cornelius Thomas, had been placed in the back of another officer's patrol car, the report states. That officer said he saw Thomas running in the grass, completely nude, coming from an area of the school.
The school's principal said she was told by students that Thomas had run by their classroom, and was then seen running along the south side of the school property. She said she thought Thomas was trying to cover himself up, but was completely nude.
Thomas refused treatment for a small injury on his foot, the report states. He was unsteady on his feet, making statements that did not make sense, and was unable to focus his gaze when officers talked to him. Because of this, he was arrested for public intoxication and public nudity, and was taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail.
