(WMBF/RNN) - The first presidential debate between Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump begins at 9 p.m.
Several local groups are also hosting debate watch parties. The Horry County Republican Party and the Donald Trump Campaign are hosting a watch party with four TV screens at the Second Cup Coffee Company at 7817 North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach. There will be prizes for the most patriotically-dressed man and woman.
The Horry County Democratic Party is hosting a watch party at El Cerro Grande restaurant at 2696 Beaver Run Boulevard A in Myrtle Beach, beginning at 8 p.m. Horry County council candidates Jimmy Washington and Robin Gause are hoped to be in attendance.
WMBF News reporter Josh Roberson will be attending both watch parties, and will have a full story on local reaction to the first debate on WMBF News at 11 p.m.
The debate will be at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY and will begin at 9 p.m. ET and will run without commercial interruption.
There will be six 15-minute segments and each topic will take up two of those segments. NBC's Lester Holt is the moderator, and will open each segment with a question. The candidate will have two minutes to respond, and then an opportunity to respond to each other. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a deeper discussion of the topic, according to the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Holt has chosen the topics of America's Direction, Achieving Prosperity, and Securing America.
