Coastal Carolina rolls Furman, 41-21

CCU crushes Furman, 41-21

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) – The Coastal Carolina football team rebounded from its first loss of the season last week resoundingly by beating Furman by a 41-21 final on Saturday night at Brooks Stadium. It's Coastal's sixth straight win over the Paladins.

Myrtle Beach native Tyler Keane got the start at quarterback after Josh Stilley and Avery McCall both went down with injuries last week at Jacksonville State. He went 9-14, for 130 yards and threw for two touchdowns.

One of those touchdown passes went to Deangelo Henderson, who extended his NCAA D-I record streak of scoring in 30 straight games. Henderson also collected 185 yards on the ground. Chris Jones led all receivers with 88 yards and a touchdown.

Special teams also played a big factor in Coastal's win. Kenneth Daniels returned a blocked field goal try 60 yards for a touchdown, while Ky'Jon Tyler ran a punt back 80 yards for a score of his own. Alex Scearce capped things off in the fourth quarter with a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Coastal is back at home next week, facing 11th ranked Charleston Southern at Brooks Stadium at 6:00.
