CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Conway Medical Center is no longer on lockdown.
An operator at the hospital updated WMBF News on the situation early Tuesday morning, explaining the lockdown was lifted around 11:48 Monday night.
Julie Rajotte, spokeswoman for Conway Medical Center, said that only the ER was on lockdown. It's a standard procedure to have a lockdown when a severely wounded person comes into the facility. The procedure serves as protection for the patient.
A WMBF News crew on scene said people were still allowed into the hospital. Security guards were also seen outside the front entrance.
The lockdown is lifted when they no longer believe there is a threat.
As for the situation overnight Monday, there is no word on what caused the lockdown.
