Urban Land Institute to conduct Georgetown steel mill study

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - A panel from the Urban Land Institute will visit the Howard Auditorium and the Winyah Auditorium in Georgetown during the week of September 18-23 to study the steel mill, according to ULI’s press release.

Community members are encouraged to participate in the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J392G2R.

There will be a reception and town hall event at the Howard Auditorium on Monday, September 19. The reception will start at 4:00 p.m. and the town hall event will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Questions and statements from the survey will be pulled for discussion during the reception, the press release states.

There UPI will present their findings to the community on Friday, September 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Winyah Auditorium.

The public is encourage to attend these events.

    HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) -- Horry County Fire Rescue held a marrow registry drive Thursday afternoon to help a member’s son. The event was held in connection with Be The Match, an organization that helps grow the marrow registry to save lives of people diagnosed with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma.     School is back in session and around this time of year so is the flu virus. One local school is taking extra steps to prevent the very contagious flu virus in the most vulnerable place for children.
