LORIS, SC (WMBF) – One man was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center early Thursday morning following a shooting Wednesday evening in Loris that left one injured.
According to online jail records, Terrence Ray Cox, 25, of Loris, faces three counts of attempted murder and resisting arrest.
He remained incarcerated Thursday at 5 p.m., under no bond.
According to an incident report from the Horry County Police Department, a person was at the end of Durham Lane in Loris firing a handgun. Several people walked down the street to tell the individual to stop shooting because there were children everywhere and bullets could be heard "whizzing back" toward Barts Road.
A witness told police she then heard a car and saw the suspect allegedly hanging out the passenger window and shooting into the crowd, the report stated. The woman reportedly had to jump into a ditch to avoid being hit by the vehicle.
One person was struck during the shooting, but had left before police arrived, the report stated.
Police later apprehended the suspect at his home on Hunter's Trail.
