Deal Diva: Take advantage of local discounts this fall

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Living on the Grand Strand, residents are constantly bombarded with advertising targeting tourists. 

However, as tourist season winds down, there are various local discounts that residents of Horry County and surrounding counties and areas can receive just by presenting an ID.

Deal Diva checked with a few attractions and restaurants in the area, and found a few samples. 

Ripley's Attractions

"For our local residents, it is 50 percent off a single admission to any of our attractions in the market that includes the Ripley's Aquarium, Ripleys Believe it or Not, our Haunted Adventure, our Mirror Maze and our Motion Mirror," said Pablo Chavez, attractions general manager for Ripley's Myrtle Beach. 

Chavez said local residents just present their ID at the ticket booth. The discount is offered for Brunswick, Georgetown and Horry counties. 

Broadway at the Beach

Several restaurants and attractions at Broadway at the Beach offer local discounts. 

10 percent off 

Good Time Charley's, Hard Rock Cafe (does not include alcoholic beverages), Sweet Carolinas, Liberty Brewery and Grill, Rooster's Restaurant and Bar, A Silver Shack, Broadway T-shirt Co.,B Blondie's, Heartfire and T-shirt Connection. 

15 percent off 

Johnny Rockets

Restaurant employees at Joe's Crab Shack and Jimmy Buffett's Magaritaville said they no longer offer local discounts; however, Margaritaville said they still honor the old VIP local discount card. 

Movie Theaters

Coastal Grand Mall Cinemark Cinemas offer locals an evening price admission for $7.75. This is for residents who reside in Horry and Georgetown counties. 

Carmike Cinemas at Broadway at the Beach and Myrtle Beach Mall offer a discounted rate of $7 and $9 for the BigD Theater. Both cinemas may require ID at the time of purchase. 

Family Kingdom Amusement Park

Residents who live in Horry, Georgetown, Florence, Marion, Brunswick, Williamsburg and Dillon counties can enjoy more than 50 percent off general park admission. 

For the fall season, the park has a special for residents. An all-day park admission pass is $9.95, plus tax. It excludes go-karts and ziplines. 

Check the park's website for off-season park hours. 

Broadway Grand Prix Family Race Park

Local residents can purchase a local pit pass that offers discounted rides all year long, plus an extra 10 percent off food and beverages.

Amici's Bistro

Mondays, customers can buy one large pizza and get a small for free. On Tuesdays, the special is buy one entree and get the second half off. 

Legends In Concert

Locals can enjoy a $12 discount per admission ticket. This excludes VIP seating. There are also specials for seat upgrades, concessions and the gift shop.

Waccamaw Bowling Center

All year-round residents can enjoy bowling fun with a discounted price of $8 for one hour or $10 for two hours. Both prices include shoe rentals.
