ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – A nurse at the Robeson County Detention Center was arrested for allegedly providing two cellphones for an inmate.
According to a Robeson County Sheriff's Office press release, Bonnie Ruth Delong, 36, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony conspiracy and furnishing a cellphone to an inmate, and one count each of possession of stolen property and receiving stolen property.
Delong was incarcerated in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond.
An investigation into cellphones being brought into the detention center began in July. The suspect was accused of providing inmate James Carvie Hunt with the devices, the release stated.
Delong began working for the detention center in July 2015 and continued until Aug. 29 of this year.
Warrants have also been obtained for Hunt for two counts each of possession of a cellphone by an inmate and felony conspiracy.
"As sheriff of Robeson County, such actions by employees of the sheriff's office or the detention center will not be tolerated," said Sheriff Kenneth Sealey.
The investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
