Pelicans tie the Mills Cup Series one game a piece

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Behind a five run fifth inning, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Lynchburg Hillcats eight to three to tie up the Mills Cup Series at one game a piece.

The Pelicans trailed three to one coming into the bottom of the fifth, before they broke the game open in their half of the inning.

Charcer Burks deep fly into the seats in left brought the Birds within one before David Bote tied the game with a RBI double two batters later.

Jeffery Baez, Andrew Ely, and Erick Castillo added RBI base hits later in the inning to push the Pelicans ahead six to three.

Bote added two more RBI's in the bottom of the eighth for the final margin of eight to three.

Jeremy Null got the start for Myrtle Beach going four innings giving up two earned runs.

The series moves to Lynchburg Virginia with game three scheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
