FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A pedestrian was struck and killed in Florence Tuesday night, and a woman now faces charges for DUI, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian killed was identified as 65-year-old Richard Earl Dowdy, of Pamplico, by Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken.
Rebecca Cook, 46-years-old from Effingham, was driving a 2001 Chrysler traveling east on Spring Branch Road; she then struck the pedestrian who was in the roadway, according to officials. The collision took place approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
Highway Patrol said Cook is facing DUI charges and the collision is under investigation.
