DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – Fire crews are on the scene of a gas leak that has led to the evacuation of some homes in the city of Darlington Tuesday night.
Darlington Fire Asst. Chief Charles Bailey said a two-inch line ruptured in the area of D Avenue, leading to those evacuations.
Bailey did not have an indication as to when the residents could go back into their homes. He added crews with South Carolina Electric and Gas were on scene and working to fix the line.
The assistant chief said Darlington residents should try to avoid the area while the work continues.
At this time, fire officials do not know what caused the line to rupture.
