Learn more about the drivers racing in this year's Bojangles' Southern 500 who are in the Race for the Chase in the Sprint Cup Series.
According to his official website, Tony Stewart, a three-time Sprint Cup Series champion, earned his first crown in 2002 by beating veteran racer Mark Martin by 38 points and a second in 2005 when he bested Greg Biffle by 35 points.
In 2009, Stewart became the first driver/owner to win a Sprint Cup race since Ricky Rudd was victorious in 1998, the website stated.
He will make the Chase as long as he stays in the top 30 in points thanks to a win at Sonoma. He is 26th right now after missing the first eight races of the season.
Stewart will be looking for his first win at Darlington in his final season as a full-time driver. He has two third-place finishes, most recently in 2012.
