DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. will miss the remainder of the 2016 NASCAR season after doctors ruled him "not cleared to compete" as he continues to deal with a concussion injury sustained in July.
Dale Jr. had five top five finishes this year before being sidelined.
He has missed the last six Sprint Cup races due to the injury. Hendrick Motorsports announced that Jeff Gordon and Alex Bowman will run in his place for the remainder of the 12 races this season.
