HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – Hartsville Police responded to a call of gunshots being fired in the area of South Sixth street, and a person laying in the street on Monday, August 29 around 10:30 p.m., according to a press release from the City of Hartsville.
When police arrived, they discovered a man lying in the roadway, bleeding.
The coroner later identified the victim as 18-year-old T'zyah DaiQuaiz Nigery Peterson, who died from an apparent gunshot wound. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 31.
The press release states that EMS, HPD, and detective officers were called to the scene.
South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Darlington County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist at the scene.
The Coroner's office took possession of the body for an autopsy and this investigation is ongoing.
