ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – Robeson County authorities are searching for a suspect and a person of interest in a fatal shooting and robbery in the Red Springs area Sunday morning.
The Robeson County Sheriff's Office said 26-year-old Nakoma Deshane Jacobs was found at about 5:21 a.m. Sunday shot in the chest, lying on the ground at the bottom step of his back door on Bryant Road in Red Springs, according to a news release. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that robbery was the motive for the shooting, the release states. Jacobs was robbed of jewelry and a firearm.
Daniel Richard Cummings, 30, of Old Lowery Road in Red Springs, has been identified as the suspect in Jacobs' murder. Cummings is wanted by authorities and is being charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, discharge of weapon into occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
There is also an unknown person of interest in this case that authorities are attempted to identify, the release states. Anyone with information on Cummings' whereabouts, or with information on the unknown person of interest, is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 910-671-3100.
