NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A woman and two dogs were retrieved from a two-story house fire near 27th Avenue South in North Myrtle Beach Wednesday afternoon, a city official confirmed.

North Myrtle Beach Fire responded to the fire in the 2400 block of Herndon Drive, according to city spokesman Pat Dowling.

Neighbors told a WMBF News crew on scene the flames were 50 feet high and looked like they were going to consume anything in their path.

The woman said two golfers from Azalea Sands Golf Course helped her out of the house, along with her two dogs. She added she had some cats that did not make it out of the home.

According to information from North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue’s Facebook page, firefighters received the call just before 1 p.m. They were able to get the blaze under control quickly.
