FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Florence County law enforcement are working an apparent homicide Monday afternoon.

According to Florence County Sheriff’s Maj. Mike Nunn, the investigation is taking place in the area of S.C. 327 and Interstate 95.

Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone said calls were received around 2:30 p.m., from multiple businesses about a pickup truck driving erratically around a field off S.C. 327 on the south side of I-95. Officers said it started at the intersection of S.C. 327 and Florence Harlees Blvd. where the truck ran into a pole and swerved onto the field.

When deputies arrived, they found the truck in a ditch and one body inside, according to Boone. Three people have been detained by law enforcement and K-9 units were on scene because authorities believed there may have been a fourth person of interest.

“There was the possibility that there were multiple suspects or persons of interest that would not remain in the area, and so the tracking team was notified, and as it turned out before they even arrived, deputies here secured the scene and had the three persons of interest in custody,” Nunn said.

All three were interviewed on scene and taken to the Florence County Detention Center. Nunn said autopsy results should be released on Tuesday. The investigation of the apparent homicide is still ongoing.
