New students to move in at Coastal Carolina University

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - It's move-in day at Coastal Carolina University.

About 2,000 students are making the move and have been assigned to different times so everyone isn't moving in at once. Students need to check in first at Kimbell Gymnasium, from there they will be directed to their designated areas. Authorities said it usually takes about 10 minutes to get a student up to his or her room.

The majority of students are from South Carolina, but for the freshman class, the next state that is the most highly represented is the state of Virginia. Next is New Jersey, then New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina and Ohio.

CCU has about 2,300 new students. Some changes this year include two new residence halls and a new area which also creates a new lawn for students called Tradition Lawn. It includes sand volleyball courts, a basketball court and a pavilion.
