AYNOR, SC (WMBF) – A runoff election will take place later this month to determine Aynor's next mayor after Tuesday's special election ended in a tie.
According to Tony Godsey, the town's project manager, the election results were certified Thursday and the race was still tied at 75 between hopefuls John Gardner and Paul McCracken.
The runoff will be Aug. 30. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Aynor Town Hall, located at 600 S. Main St.
Gardner and McCracken, both town council members, were running to fill the seat left vacant by Keb Johnson, the former mayor who resigned in May.
