Back-to-school apps teach kids new skills

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Hundreds of smartphone and tablet apps are helping kids study as they go back to school, according to a report from NBC affiliate WFLA in Tampa.

Wordly Wise 3000 focuses on teaching kids new words dependent on their grade level. A cursive writing app focuses on penmanship.

Sumdog is an app that incorporates math into games. The Canvas app allows students to do homework assignments on an iPad.

The Noteability app keeps notes for each subject in one place.

    Improvements for Legends Drive, a continuously growing area, has been a topic of discussion for leaders and homeowners over the last several months, but the question is exactly how those improvements are going to be paid for.   Horry County Councilman Johnny Vaught said the area around Legends Drive is constantly bringing new housing developments and if that’s going to continue, the now privately-owned road needs to be fixed.
