FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Construction is changing the flow of traffic for one school in the Pee Dee.
The new traffic flow is taking place because there is currently a new school going in behind Delmae Heights Elementary.
Roy Ann Jolly, the principal at Delmae, said Monday's traffic flow was good, but with a little more education the pickup and drop off process can be made better.
To help with traffic congestion in this area, the school has implemented a new traffic pattern – and parents are being asked to keep it in mind when they are in this area.
"You always need to come in from 76, up Parker towards Cashua. There will be cones along street to direct you in terms of how far you need to go up before making that right run into the parking lot," Jolly added.
As far as the volume of traffic, that principal said she expects it to decrease just a little.
She says that it is customary that many parents drive their kids to school during the first few days.
That new school will be complete next year, which will totally re-work and improve all traffic issues this South Cashua Area has.
Parents are advised to drop their kid off a little earlier, before 7:30 a.m.
