CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Ray Lewis III, the son of former Baltimore Ravens player Ray Lewis and a former student at Coastal Carolina University, has been indicted by a Horry County grand jury after two victims alleged he sexually assaulted them.
According to an indictment filed Monday with the Horry County Clerk of Courts, Lewis III was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
On Jan. 23, a Conway police officer responded to a local hospital, where the victims told police they were sexually assaulted at an apartment in the 2200 block of Technology Drive, according to an earlier news release from the police department.
The arrest warrant alleged that Lewis did engage in sexual battery with an 18-year-old female with the knowledge that the victim was incapacitated and/or physically helpless from the use of drugs and/or alcohol.
Lewis turned himself in to police on April 29 and was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to Martha Hunn, spokesperson for CCU, Lewis is no longer a football player for the school's team and was dismissed from the university in May.
