Man collapses, dies after being assisted to shore in Myrtle Beach

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A New York resident was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon after collapsing following assistance getting to shore in the Shore Drive area of Myrtle Beach.

According to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard, the incident happened at approximately 12:55 p.m.

The victim, Brooke Shelton, 60, was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m, according to Willard.

She added the victim was on vacation from Baldwin, N.Y. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
