HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – One of the two suspects charged in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Zachary Malinowski was granted a new bond by a judge Wednesday afternoon.

According to Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, a $200,000 bond was given to Christopher Anfony Brown, 22, during a court appearance Wednesday.

Brown and a second suspect, Javon Gibbs, were charged with murder and kidnapping in the Malinowski case following the Aynor teenager’s 2013 disappearance. A $50,000 bond was set for both men in May 2015.

Then, in December 2015, Brown was arrested again in connection with a November shooting. In that case, he was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a person convicted of a violent felony and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Horry County police said at the time.

According to information on the Horry County Public Index, a bond had not previously been set for the attempted murder and the drug charge in reference to the 2015 case.
