Detectives find pot, ecstasy, cocaine, guns in Laurinburg hotel room, 2 arrested

SCOTLAND COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office criminal investigation division and deputies along with officers attempted to serve a warrant on a suspect located at Scotland Inn in Laurinburg and discovered a large amount of narcotics in the room.

According to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, detectives found 3.6 pounds of marijuana, 25 ecstasy pills, 9.5 grams of powder cocaine, 5.7 grams of crack cocaine, and two firearms.

Eric Fields and Melissa Leggette were arrested and charged with possession with intent to sale and deliver marijuana, possession with intent sell deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver ecstasy, possession of a stolen firearm, conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana, conspiracy to sell and deliver cocaine and conspiracy to sell and deliver ecstasy.

Both suspects were placed in Scotland County Detention Center, the post states.

Fields received a $ 20,000 bond and Leggette received a $ 10,000 bond.

    Traffic congestion is being reported on several spots along Highway 17 and Highway 17 Bypass from Surfside Beach to Georgetown as the total solar eclipse draws nearer. An alert from the South Carolina Department of Transportation states that US 17 southbound between the Garden City Connector and Indigo Club Drive is down to an average speed of just 7 miles per hour, for a length of about 9 miles.
