Coroner identifies two killed in crash in Darlington County

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Cpl. Per Judd Jones with South Carolina Highway Patrol confirms that two people are dead after a two-vehicle collision on East Lynches River Road near Davis Street on Wednesday around 5:30 a.m.

"Wayne Feagan, 52, of Timmonsville and Creed Childress, 48, of Knoxville, TN were both pronounced dead at the scene by Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee when both vehicles collided with one another at the intersection of Highway 401 and Lynches River Road just outside of Lamar," states a release from the coroner. The coroner's release did not state which person was in which vehicle.

The driver of a 2011 Chevrolet pickup was traveling south on US 401 when the driver of a 2000 Mazda pickup was traveling east.

Cpl. Per Judd Jones said that the driver of the Mazda pickup pulled into the intersection and was then struck by the Chevrolet pickup.

The passenger of the Chevrolet pickup and the driver of the Mazda pickup were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup and passenger of the Mazda pickup were sent to McLeod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The collision remains under investigation.
