HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man tracked his stolen car to the Sunhouse convenience store on Highway 90 near Conway, and was taken into custody after firing warning shots at the alleged thief, who fled from the incident location.
The call came in to Horry County police at about 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, indicating that someone was shooting at someone else at the convenience store in the 2600 block of Highway 90, according to Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County Police.
The officers' investigation found that a man whose car was stolen was alerted to its whereabouts by a GPS locator, Lt. Denis stated He found the car at the Sunhouse, and approached the car and its occupants with a gun drawn and pointed.
While interacting with the occupant, the man fired warning shots, Lt. Denis said. That man is in custody awaiting charges.
The man in the stolen car fled the incident location, Lt. Denis added. Officers are working on his identification and criminal charges.
No one was injured in the incident, according to Lt. Denis.
