HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Law enforcement agencies across the country are participating in National Night Out on Tuesday evening, including in the Grand Strand and the Pee Dee.
The Horry County Police Department, Conway Police Department, and Horry County Sheriff's Office are teaming up to host a community party at Homewood Elementary School from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a bounce castle, face painting, balloon animals, food, and games. The kids can also get up close to the officers' motorcycles and sit inside their patrol cars to see what it's like.
Spokespersons for the three different departments all agree the goal of this event is to encourage trust with the community, build a stronger relationship, and agree to take a stand against crime together.
The Florence County Sheriff's Office is also hosting its 33rd annual National Night Out event at the Hugh K. Leatherman Senior Center. That will start at 5:00 a.m. with games, live entertainment, along with food and drinks. Senator Leatherman will be the keynote speaker. And an awards ceremony will start at 6:00 p.m.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department will host a similar event but not until October. The spokesperson for the department said they wanted to have the event when it will be cooler and when fewer vacations are planned in hopes of getting a bigger turnout.
