DILLON, SC (WMBF) – The City of Dillon has selected an 18-year veteran with the department as the new Chief of Police.
Captain David Lane was appointed the city's new police chief at 9 a.m. Monday, replacing former chief Joe Rogers, who retired at the end of June, according to Dillon City Manager Glen Wagner.
Lane has been with the Dillon Police Department for 18 years, since 1998.
Lane was selected by a seven-person committee of community members selected by Wagner. The final choices were Lane, Lt. Jamie Seales with the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office, and Lt. Kimberly Nelson with the Darlington City Police Department. Wagner made the final decision.
